TILLAMOOK // the yummiest dairy products are now available in Atlanta + cheddar grits recipe

This post is sponsored by Tillamook, a brand I love and believe in. Thank you for reading!

I’ve been working with Tillamook for about a month now. It all started with a taste test. Basically, they sent me their cheese and ice cream. YEP. CHEESE AND ICE CREAM. How could I not?!

I am really not a huge ice cream person but omg. We are hooked. It is SO good and you can honestly taste the difference.

Tomorrow evening, they’ve partnered up with Sweet Auburn BBQ in Atlanta to throw a Pimento Cheese dinner party, called #MeltyFest.

Reflections on Diet Culture

I’ve been doing hard things lately. Like hot yoga, putting on a two piece swimsuit, and actively re-learning how to have a positive relationship with food.

These things are hard for me, and sometimes all it takes is just showing up.

BACK TO SCHOOL // Fashion Prep with Emmie

This post was sponsored by Stitch Fix, a brand I truly love. Thank you for supporting House of Dorough.

Back to school shopping… it is honestly one of my most favorite memories.  When I heard Stitch Fix was catering to kids now, I honestly had no idea what to expect. But you guys. I have fallen HARD for it. Ever since I saw my Emmie girl lay eyes on her first “fix” … it had to have been one of the cutest things ever. She was SO excited to get a fix just for her, and she loved the personalized note with stickers. She delicately opened each item and gave her review of it. It was so funny. Gah, I love this girl. Watch the video on IGTV here.

Coming to Terms with my Rolls

Fat Rolls. *awkward silence*
We’ve spent pretty much our entire lives trying to make sure we don’t have any.
I’ve come to accept them, but it’s taken awhile. I like to call it body neutrality, honestly, because I’m not going to tell you that I always love them. But at this point in my life, for the first time ever I’m okay with the fact that these gushy, squishy rolls are here, on my body, no matter if I’m standing or sitting.

LETTING GO // with ThirdLove

If you’ve been following me for awhile this year, then you know that I’ve opened up about anxiety and depression a lot. Opening up about these things may be uncomfortable for some, but for me… it has helped me cope tremendously.

This Summer I have started spending more time outside, mainly because of the kids. By doing this, I’ve realized how grounding it is for me.

TRAVEL // Highlands, NC - Toyota Camry: There for Life

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (“Toyota”) provided me with compensation and use of a Camry for a short period of time. The opinions I have shared about this vehicle are my own.

It’s Summer. If you’re like me, you have big hopes and dreams every year for having the best summer ever. Hopes and dreams of traveling and making memories with our families, sure...but what about the stress that comes with traveling?! Forget about it. There shall be NO SUCH THING!! Right?! Wishful thinking…

But on top of these unattainable goals we give ourselves, we scroll our feeds and often see people we may or may not know on lavish family vacations, seemingly having the time of their lives.

THE BEAUTY OF GETTING UNCOMFORTABLE

BIKINI TOP $4 | BOTTOMS $4

This post is paid for by Walmart, and also contains affiliate links. Thank you for your continued support of House of Dorough, and understanding I only share things I truly love with you.

Taking these photos wasn’t easy. I had to climb into a rocky river, knowing I’m not as strong as I used to be and knowing that I could easily slip and fall at any moment.

On top of that, I was wearing a two piece swimsuit which is never actually as easy as it looks. To be honest, two piece swimsuits are usually more comfortable for me because finding a one piece that fits my torso right is near impossible. But I am always a little more self conscious.

TRUE LIFE // surviving baby months 4-7

BABY MONITOR | WALLPAPER | SIGN | CRIB CANOPY

If you follow me closely, you may have noticed that the struggle was more than real a few months ago. This past Spring was rough and we are finally coming out of it. Pearl went through major sleep regressions and I really struggled with whether or not to sleep train her. I am so attached to her like any mother is to her child, but I also have just been trying to soak up every possible moment with her because I know she is likely my last baby. So for a while there… we co-slept a lot.

MENTAL HEALTH // what my self-care looks like these days

This post is sponsored by FAGE; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think generally speaking, when you live in a negative headspace everything in your life is harder than it should be. I’m figuring out that the hate I subconsciously have felt throughout my whole life towards myself and how my body looked has translated in so many ways, including my own self care.

POOL PARTIES // NOT JUST FOR SKINNY BABES

BIKINI TOP | BOTTOMS | ONE PIECE

If your body type is characterized as being skinny, I love you just as much as I love my big girls. This message is for everyone, but especially those who have been so highly underrepresented in the media.

I grew up skipping pool parties, or agreeing to go to them but conveniently “forgetting” my swimsuit. I’d go on vacation with friends and would refuse to get in the hot tub. I’d stick my feet in and chat instead of letting myself just live my life. Sound familiar?

WHY.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY.

The "F" Word

👉🏼FAT👈🏼 this is a word I have struggled with my whole life, ever since that dumb boy made fun of my “fat legs” in 2nd grade.

When the word FAT started being talked about more in the body positive community I had a really, REALLY hard time with it. I’ve been working on it. But this one word has probably been the hardest thing for me to be accepting of.

Beach Body Confidence // The Steps I Took

I’m not always super confident in this swimsuit but I wear it. I wear it because I deserve to rock a two piece just like anyone else. I wear it because I’m no longer trying to hide anything and I love my scars. And I wear it because it’s important to me that we NORMALIZE ALL BODY TYPES.
