WHAT I WORE // Vacation in Sandestin
Wes and I recently went on a solo trip to Sandestin and stayed at Hotel Effie (read more about that trip here)! I know that packing/shopping/prepping for a trip can be super stressful, especially as a plus sized woman, so I hope this outfit roundup of what I wore helps you!

Because of our schedules and a quick turnaround time, we flew from Atlanta to VPS airport. I wanted something super cozy for the airport and plane, but still wanted to feel put together. I landed (ha, no pun intended) on this bodysuit, these pull-on shorts, a sweatshirt tastefully tied around my waist like the 90’s kid I am, and of course… my GG crossbody. Denim jacket for a chic layer, but truthfully didn’t have room for it in my suitcase. The shoes I wore are hands down, my favorite purchase this Spring. These Nike platform sandals are COMFORTABLE, y’all. Not only that but they go with almost everything I own. They keep selling out but they just came out with a solid black version that I love too! I love how chic they are, but they’r still sporty… if that makes sense.
We spent one afternoon at the poolside bar and lounge, and one morning at the cabana. I LOVED my poolside looks. The fun colors really made me feel confident and sexy, to be honest.

This was our first afternoon at Hotel Effie, and it was raining on and off. We enjoyed lounging at the Ara rooftop pool bar - the food and drinks were great!!! I loved wearing this ensemble because the coverup ties into a dress and actually, I am wearing it right now as a dress as I write this. Ha! I love the colors in all of this and felt super cute. The bottoms run true to size, but if you like a little give then size up. The top runs true and I’d just get your regular size. Also love this simple black sandal I found at Target (seriously most of mine are coming from there lately)!

The next day, we spent our entire morning enjoying the poolside Cabana and I LOOOVED my look for this. It was so comfortable, and honestly I felt… pretty. I wanted to feel confident for this because if I’m being honest, this type of environment has never felt ‘comfortable’ to me… I’ve never felt like I ‘belonged’ because of my body type, even though I know that’s silly… it’s true. I fully believe that confidence starts on the inside, but sometimes in order to get there you do have to rely on outside factors. So for me, feeling good in this look helped me to be super confident… and that shined through, and I had no moments or panic or worry that morning at the cabana. It was beautiful and we really enjoyed our time there.

On this night, I wanted something easy, breezy, and cute. This adorable Able set delivered!!! We walked down the road about 3-4 minutes to the village and grabbed dinner and drinks for a piano bar. It was SO fun, and I felt comfortable and cute! Just a heads up, these pieces run very large so size down an entire size. I am wearing the 2x but need the 1x, truthfully. This belt bag designed by Karla Reed is also my favorite thing invented lately. It is so convenient, neutral and chic!

This dress keeps selling out, but y’all… if you ever come across something like this GET IT. I have worn this so much believe it or not!! It is one of those unicorn dresses that literally feels like you’re wearing a nightgown (or nothing) but you look… fancy. You know?! It can easily be dressed up, and I would totally wear this to a wedding. But also… I have worn it to the neighborhood restaurant... HAHA!

Our first morning there, we quickly got dressed and went down to the hotel restaurant so I wanted to be casual and comfortable. I LOVE this skirt Jess found from Target about a month ago… I have been able to wear it in so many ways and I continue to pack it on every trip! This simple crop top from Arula is so classic and has become a staple. I think this exact one is sold out but here is a similar one. This denim jacket from Able is truly HIGH quality… truly. It is so soft but still has structure and I can tell will last me a lifetime. Can’t forget to mention these quilted sandals that I grabbed from Target back in April when I was traveling, and I AM STILL A MEGA FAN GIRL of them. I have them in black as well. They are SO comfortable I cannot even explain it.

Okay, if you know me at all you’re probably just as surprised as I was when I realized I’d be going on the golf course. THIS WAS A FIRST FOR ME… Yes. Believe it or not, your girl had never even ridden onto a golf course. Obviously, I had to bring golf course appropriate FASHION. Ha!!!! I pulled this together out of things I had, and I have to say…. I kinda loved the end result! This skort is still available and honestly one of my faves. It’s the 14inch length and I feel like it’s perfect. For reference, I am 5’8 and high waisted. The bike shorts don’t move or ride up which is KEY!!! Jess saw this top at Target recently and I was unsure about it until I realized I needed it for this look, haha!! I love the hat — it’s a Madewell packable straw hat and I have it in brown as well. My simple white sneakers (a la Keds) came from a quick last minute Target drive up order and I really love them.

This was our last day staying at Hotel Effie and we got to experience the beach! I loved this swimsuit from Eloquii because I knew we wouldn’t be “beaching it” all day long… and it felt like the perfect amount of coverage. I honestly felt super cute, and it almost felt like an outfit! This beach bag I got a long time ago and is sold out but they make other versions of it here. Also, I haven’t mentioned this yet but I love these Krewe sunglasses — the shape is perfection! My swim coverup is from Swimsuits for All, my holy grail swimwear spot.

This is what I wore to Sunday brunch at the hotel restaurant and then to travel home in. I love this Able dress - the quality and fabric is amazing. It runs big, and I could have done the 1X. Paired it with my Able denim jacket that runs true to size. I love my GG crossbody bags because it makes it so simple to reach your essentials especially when traveling. This tote bag is always my personal item when flying and I love that it stays structured and holds my laptop perfectly.
