HOW TO SHOP MADEWELL DENIM // while most styles are $75!
As most of you know, I spent the majority of my career in film shopping for other people’s wardrobes. I spent a lot of time in stores like Madewell, wishing they’d carry my size. Almost two years ago they extended their sizing and I have been impressed from the get-go. Their tops and dresses are hit or miss for plus size, but if it’s a hit it’s a HIT ya know what I mean?
But more than anything… the denim. The denim is so dang good, especially for my sort of body type. I am “curvy” - but basically no butt. I carry all of my weight in my stomach and hips, and my thighs are a bit smaller. Madewell jeans are made with high quality denim, and a lot of their styles have a good amount of stretch but also great structure.
You definitely get what you’re paying for, and with most of my favorites being $75 right now (Usually $128) - I felt it wouldn’t be right not to share all of my tips and link my favorites since this literally never happens! Also, another reason why I love their denim for my body, is because the zipper length is long enough to not cut into my stomach fat in an awkward way. Now THAT is something that is hard to find, and I’m here for any denim designer who can nail that!
Below I’m going to show you all of the jeans I have and love from Madewell. You’ll note that sizing is different in some of them, because it really depends on how much stretch they have.
PRO TIP FOR MADEWELL DENIM: If you are super curvy, with a big ole juicy booty and thick thighs - first of all, I’m extremely envious but second of all.. Madewell may not be the denim for you. I highly recommend Good American (love them just as much as Madewell honestly) - but they are built for more curves and have more stretch. My body can wear either.

CURVY CALI DENIM - I have these in the black, chewed hem version and I love them. I wear them in a 35, they fit great with the perfect amount of stretch.
CURVY HIGH RISE DENIM IN BLACK SEA - these jeans make me feel like a straight up QUEEN. They have a LOT of stretch and the size 34 fits me perfectly. I probably could wear a 35 on some days, but if you’re in between 18-20 I’d try the 34.
CURVY HIGH RISE SKINNY IN HAYES WASH - these are your classic medium wash denim that will last you forever. I absolutely love these. They feel amazing and have the perfect amount of stretch. I wear the 35.
HIGH-RISE SKINNY JEANS: ADJUSTABLE EDITION - these. are. incredible. I have them in a 34 but wish they were the 35 because ya’ girl needs a little room. That being said, even with them being a tiny bit too small they are STILL some of my most comfortable jeans. Like… what? Yes. So. Freaking. Good.
