CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU, PJ // family maternity photos

Oh my goodness, baby girl! I don’t even know where to start. You have made your presence known during this pregnancy! Starting at Week 4, I thought I had the stomach flu… but nope, that was just you, letting me know you were here! I stayed nauseous 24-7 until about week 18, and then I finally came out of the fog, so to speak.

In the beginning, before our first ultrasound, I was so filled with anxiety. I remember not being able to sleep one night, and I swear I heard an actual voice say to me, “She is fine. Trust me. Everything is perfect.” (That was God, by the way. He’s pretty awesome).

By Week 20, I felt amazing… like a new woman. I started back on the blog full time and, here we are at Week 37 and I haven’t slowed down a bit.

This past week, they told me that I have a severe case of polyhydramnios. Because of this, the doctors would like to get you out sooner rather than later. This means you will be gracing our presence way quicker than we had planned.

As any mom would, I am super nervous about your well-being but I am trusting the specialists and doctors who say you are completely perfect.

I have no idea what to expect. Will you come on your own? Will I have a c-section? Or will I be induced? I really have no clue at this point. They are telling me that you are big… I’m interested to see if that’s the truth or not!

All I know is that I just can’t wait to snuggle you up and meet you. I wonder what your personality will be like. Will you favor your sister? Are you another twin of your father? Will you be an easy baby, or give us hell? Who knows… only time will tell.

You move ALL of the time. Always having a dance party up in there, which means I know you and your big sis are going to be the best of friends.

Speaking of your sister, she is absolutely in love with you even though you aren’t here yet. She knew I was pregnant with you before we even told her. A few nights before my first ultrasound, I was giving her a bath and out of the blue, she said: “Mommy, do you have a baby in your tummy? I think you do.”

Mind. Blown.

She’s probably known about you far before we did!

Since then, she’s been to several of your ultrasounds and is always so interested to see “Baby Pearl” up on the screen. Currently, she thinks you’re black and white. At our last ultrasound, she told me you looked like a dolphin!! Haha!

Tonight, she wouldn’t fall asleep unless she was lying with her head on my tummy. She wanted to be close to you. You started kicking, and she said to me: “Oh, Mommy, I don’t think she likes me laying my head on her.”

Don’t worry, I assured her that those were happy kicks. ;)

This entire pregnancy, she has said that she also has a baby in her tummy. She told me the other day that we are going to have 2 baby sisters in this house… but I know in my heart that once she sees you, she won’t even think twice about her “fatend” baby.

I pray you make your way safely. I pray that you’re okay.

And I absolutely cannot wait to get to know you, sweet baby girl of mine.

Love, always and forever,

Mama

PS: Your name is Pearl Jo. Pearl is your great grandmother, whom I love dearly and is still with us! Jo is after my Aunt Patti Jo, who left us too soon. She had a huge impact on my life and you would have loved her so so so much.

PPS: You have the best daddy ever. You are going to adore him. He will give you the best hairstyles, trust me! Emmie knows. ;)

We took these photos as a family of 3 while I was 36 weeks. Thank you to Naomi Hopkins for capturing such magical moments! I will cherish these photos forever.
