YOUR 2023 NORDSTROM SALE GUIDE // Everything You Need to Know

It’s that time of year again…the one where you’ll likely see loads and loads of content creators an influencers flooding your feeds with #NSALE finds! This can get extremely overwhelming - and I am here to help weed through it all!

As a plus size woman, it can also be extremely hard to navigate what is actually worth the money vs. something you can probably find somewhere else. There are several MUST HAVE items that I recommend for my plus size girlies that I get from Nordstrom. Be sure to watch my reels that will go live this week where I take deep dives into what and why you should consider certain items. But here’s a quick preview to get you started!

PLUS SIZE FASHION PICKS FOR THE 2023 NORDSTROM SALE

In my opinion, here are the things you need to look for when diving in to the Nordstrom Sale! Most of these apply to everyone, regardless of your size.

First things first, look specifically for STAPLE ITEMS, like a good bra, a good pair of jeans, black pants that will last you years, the best sneakers, a good sturdy boot, a versatile jacket and/or coat.

My all time favorite strapless bra is part of this sale, and the savings are huge. I have had my strapless for years and I have never gotten any negative feedback about it!

Here are more bras that I highly recommend that you can get for great savings during this event:

These jeans all look like ones I’d love. I’ve tried other versions of these throughout the years, and I highly recommend. For both Good American and Madewell, I’d suggest getting your regular size but if you’re in between, size up in Good American, size down in Madewell.

You always need a solid pair of black pants, and here are the ones that stood out to me! The key for me is knowing that they’re high waist and thick, machine washable. I’d get your regular size in these.

I am LEGIT so excited about my favorite shoes of all time being part of this sale. On Cloud sneakers are the absolute best, and got me through a solid week at Disney earlier this year. I cannot recommend them enough, and they are worth EVERY PENNY.

You’re going to want to also look at coats and hard to find, specific items you don’t ever want to buy again.

For example, this waterproof rain jacket that isn’t too thick and has a hood. You wouldn’t believe how many times I get asked for recommendations for one of these and this one looks like it will last you forever!

If you’re looking for long living pieces for your wardrobe, you’re also going to want to pay attention to HIGHER END BRANDS that make high quality, classic pieces that will last in your closet for years and years. We’re not talking trendy, we’re talking pieces that will literally last you for a decade! Here are the pieces I think are worth it to look into:

Brands like Spanx, Good American, and Madewell make some of the best plus size clothing that is out there, and now is a good time to try it.

Spanx

This cocoon cardigan situation is legit the softest thing I’ve ever put on my body! I have it in the 2x/3x size and absolutely love it.

Spanx also makes the best leggings that will last you for years and years! I’ve had the faux leather leggings for 5 years and they still hold up. If you’re unsure about sizing, always size up. Typically, I am a standard 2x in all of their clothing, leggings and pants. The suede leggings run a little small, so size up if you’re unsure.

Madewell

Madewell is featuring some beautiful pieces during this sale that I haven’t actually seen anywhere else. Some of their jeans are also being featured here, fully in stock through a size 28W. I absolutely love their Drapey tops, and if you’ve been here for a few years they should look familiar to you! They’re my favorite summer top - with a small sleeve to still give you coverage should you want that, but still lightweight and loose and just overall perfect for summer. Those tops run true to size, but size up if you want some extra room. For reference, I have that top in a 2x and a 3x and love both of them. There are some jeans included in this sale that look right up my alley - definitely check them out because I haven’t seen them on Madewell’s website and plus sizes over there sell out quickly!

Good American

Good American jeans, if you find the right ones (like the ones I linked above) are the best jeans ever, in my opinion. They were the first jeans I ever found that fit my body type and I didn’t feel like I was constantly pulling them up. The tricky part is finding the right size, which can vary from style to style. I will say from experience: it is worth trying several styles and sizes, because when you find the perfect one they are the PERFECT ONE and will last you for years. Some of my favorite jeans are from Good American, I’ve had for 5 years and they’re still going strong. The one thing that all of my favorites have in common are that they are high rise and have a lot of stretch. For reference, I wear an 18W in them. The only time I’ve needed a 20 has been when they are a bit more rigid.
