MOM BOD CONFESSION // I HAVE A MAJOR OF FEAR OF TUCKING IN MY SHIRT

JEANS | TOP | JACKET | SHOES| BAG

This post is paid for by Walmart, and also contains affiliate links. Thank you for your continued support of House of Dorough, and understanding I only share things I truly love with you.

No matter how big or how small my body has been, I have never ever EVER been comfortable with my stomach. About 4 years ago, I got into amazing shape before getting pregnant with Emaline and I got semi-comfortable tucking shirts in here and there, but I always had to have a layer to balance out my insecurities. I’m sure you’ve noticed, more and more women are starting to show their tummies off and I ain’t mad about it. I love it. But after having two kids and being 5 months postpartum, I am still definitely not at a place where I’m comfortable showing it off.

But sometimes… it’s necessary to push yourself out of that safety bubble we tend to stay in. With this look, I really wanted to show how to elevate a classic t-shirt and denim look. The shirt untucked looked very off-putting. So, I told myself to “grow up and tuck your shirt in Ashley.” Ha!

So I did it. And I looked in the mirror and was shocked at what I saw.

A WAIST? IS THAT A WAIST?! CURVES?? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! SHOCKED

These jeans are an amazing FIND (under $18) and fit amazing. I am shocked - they hug me in all the right places and hit my waist at the perfect point. I sized up to a 20 because I read on the reviews that they run small, and sure enough they do. The way that they fit is flattering and honestly I’m not sure I would have loved the shirt tucked in if I had gone with a different pair.

So I rocked the shirt tuck and I felt so good. Here’s what I learned: I am still self conscious about my stomach and that’s okay. And even though I did this and loved it, I probably still won’t be comfortable doing the shirt tuck for awhile, and that’s okay.

But sometimes, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is the best thing you can do for yourself. I LOVE this outfit, and I love that you can see my shape. This is one baby step into loving my body even more. And one little baby step into inspiring someone else to love themselves more. Let’s embrace our bods - but also you should know that it’s okay if you’re not quite there yet.

This look is perfect for transitioning into Spring because it’s still necessary to wear a light jacket. The white jacket adds such a cool, different touch to the classic denim jacket trend. It also has a good amount of stretch. The cozy tee is just that - SUPER COZY - and it’s Ellen’s brand so I had to rep it (I just love her!!). Like I said earlier, the jeans are super flattering and hug in the right places. They’ve got a little stretch but not much so size up. The shoes are Kendall + Kylie, which I was shocked I could find them on Walmart.com for $52! I am ALSO very shocked I can walk in them… they’re actually comfortable and I’m not just saying that. I am NOT a heels girl, and I am prone to falling. Haha! This weekender bag is super fun and perfect for stashing things you need for the day on the go, or traveling.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Yes, I got approached to do this campaign and I was hesitant. It’s Walmart, and I honestly haven’t shopped here for clothes since college. I was skeptical, but when I looked at the campaign brief and started looking at the product available now, I was blown away. They have REALLY stepped their game up, needless to say. I was happy to be included in their We Dress America campaign and I am truly happy with the products I found and the prices I paid for them!
